A quiet afternoon in Portugal

A wonderful picture by my friend Laurie.

Here is his blog. (Note: often has nudes.)

Deserved. This pic is almost like a Kertész composition.

It's really just a snap but I'm glad you like it.

Interestingly, the work put into a photo hardly seems to matter. Some of the most famous photos in the world, even a few of the best, were "just snaps". And many elaborately conceived photos are hardly worth considering.

(I don't want to belabor this one if you don't, I just like to consider the broader view whenever I can. :-)

When I was very young, I was part of a group being judges. We showed some of our own photos to the club we were judging. And a fellow judge (who was wont to make set-up photos) commented to me: "it seems that all the time you're saying things like: 'I was just coming out of the department store, saw this, and snapped it'." Yeah.
(Hmm, maybe an idea for a post.)
